The Weekly Chic: on the power of our community and Semester Five

“Hate, it has caused a lot of problems in the world, but has not solved one yet.” — Dr. Maya Angelou. What’s going on is unacceptable. We stand in solidarity with our AAPI friends and our hearts are with the families of those lost in the senseless attacks in Georgia. We’re sharing below some more resources from The Cut on how to help, if you’re able. #StopAAPIHate. Full stop.
If you’re part of MBAchic Beta, we thank you for your time and energy testing the platform, providing feedback and sharing your overall impressions. We are thrilled to have you inside and can’t wait to share what’s next. If you haven’t yet enabled Beta, check your inbox and let’s get you sorted so we can open things up to an even larger audience. Also quick heads up, your WIB club will likely see early access, too, so touch base with them when you can!
Last week we had a conversation about salary negotiation with Loren Bass (“Minority Negotiations” - catch a snippet on social media dropping later today or tomorrow). It was great to have a dynamic discussion on strategies, techniques, things to negotiate outside of salary, and stories of wins and losses. It was also so great to see our community sharing and tackling problems together. Tomorrow we have a conversation about Money & The MBA: funding bschool and beyond with Eryn Schultz of Her Personal Finance (read her article linked below before joining!). Excited to be restarting our events and conversations with the launch of MBAchic Beta, because we’re really getting into the power of one of our core pillars, Semester Five. If we’ve met up or you’ve joined any of our Zooms or Lives, you’ve heard all about this (still trying to unearth my TEDx talk on this, too). The long and short of it is this: an MBA is typically four semesters over two years: Semesters 1 and 2 in your first year, 3 and 4 in your second. But what happens after graduation, where there isn’t a syllabus, where there aren’t any quizzes or cases to keep you on track. Where do you go to keep growing and learning and leveling up?
Enter Semester Five, and enter MBAchic. We’re not just here for the times of change in your career or start of your MBA journey. We’re here to help you keep learning, connecting, growing and leveling up in all areas. We’re here to help you keep your finger on the pulse of what’s new in your industry, bschool and beyond. Sign up to see what’s next, join us to plan and shape future discussions and events, and reach out with your ideas for the future. This community has overcome a lot over the last year, and we’re excited for 2021 to turn into the launch pad that we’ve all been preparing and waiting for: join us.
PSA: if you’re with a brand or organization or in a position to hire, reach out to find out how you can tap into our growing global network of smart, ambitious professionals. Reply or go here. If you’re job searching, companies like Pipeline Equity & Rosetta Digital are waiting to hear from qualified members of MBAchic (scroll to “Jobs”).
As always, sending you good vibes for the week ahead,

From MBAchic
